Show Notes

I’m thrilled to share the details of a recent family wedding which took place just outside Perth, Western Australia. This episode will take you through the charming blend of traditional etiquette and contemporary twists that made this celebration truly special.

Highlights from the Wedding:

  • Location and Setting: Emily and Nick’s wedding was held at the picturesque Millbrook Winery in Jarrahdale, a quaint village surrounded by the stunning West Australian wildflowers. The outdoor ceremony by the winery’s lake was a beautiful blend of nature and elegance, with wine barrels adorned with cascading wildflower arrangements.
  • Attire: The dress code was formal but contemporary. Guests wore lounge suits, and long or ballerina length dresses. The groom and his groomsmen wore tuxedos, and the bride, looked radiant in a full length dress with veil. The bridesmaids’ sage-coloured dresses and wildflower bouquets added a touch of harmony to the setting.
  • Ceremony and Vows: The ceremony was conducted by a celebrant who skillfully kept everyone at ease. Emily and Nick exchanged heartfelt personal vows before the formalities, creating an intimate moment that highlighted their love and commitment.
  • Reception and Dining: The reception was hosted in a beautifully decorated area of the winery, with meticulous attention to seating arrangements which honoured traditional etiquette. The dinner featured delicious local wines and canapés, a varied menu of choice and was followed by a delightful mix of music tailored for all generations.
  • Speeches and Entertainment: The celebrant’s background as a cruise director of entertainment shone through as he organized speeches between courses, ensuring a smooth flow of the evening. Emily and Nick’s joint speech was a charming modern twist, showcasing their appreciation for their guests and their day.
  • Gifts and Thank You: In lieu of traditional gifts guests were encouraged to contribute to the couple’s honeymoon via a wishing well. The contemporary twist of providing cards with the bank account details was a great addition

Louise’s Top Tip

  • Punctuality: Arrive 30 minutes early to ensure a smooth start and to respect the couple’s time.
  • Seating Arrangements: Avoid singles tables and encourage interaction among guests to enhance the celebration.
  • Thank Yous: Both the bride and groom should send gracious thank you notes, acknowledging the presence and support of their guests
